Drew + Dave? February 10, 1997 Is it just us, or is there something brewing between David Letterman and Drew Barrymore? First, she did a little dance on his desk back in 1995 for his birthday, giving him a for-your-eyes-only flash of her breasts. Then, he positively gushes about Drew to TV Guide, calling her a "sweet person." (Hey--in Dave-speak, that's gushing.) Now Drew has revealed her secret attraction to Dave, just in time for Valentine's Day. "I've always had a crush on him my whole life," Drew reveals to US magazine. "Up till I was seven, it was Ted Koppel, then one night, I put on the wrong channel. Ted has intellect, but Dave has intellect and humor." So, what are the chances that the forty-nine-year-old talk show host and the soon-to-be-twenty-two-year-old movie star will get together? Slim to none, according to Drew. "Every time I see him, I just happen to be with somebody else," Drew says. "I would never dare ask David Letterman out." So should Dave, who is currently living with former Late Show employee Regina Lasko, make the first move? "Are you kidding me?" says Barrymore. "Absolutely." Drew, who broke up with Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson, was last seen with Luke Wilson, who is co-starring with her in the upcoming film Independence. In other Drew news, it looks increasingly likely that Barrymore will turn into Cinderella for a big-screen remake of the classic fairy tale. Variety reports that this Cinderella is an update of the story about the beautiful girl, the evil stepmother, and the handsome prince. No word on who will direct or play the prince.
